WELLNESS NEWSLETTERS

General Philosophy

Knowledge is power. But attaining enough knowledge these days can be challenging, in that information comes at us from all directions, almost constantly, as a result of our new and "enlightened" information age.

Here are a couple of resources that I highly recommend. They are short and to the point, and address the issue we face in our life.

They are a little conservative, they definately don't "paint outside of the lines", so to speak, but the science is sound and very appropriate for all readers.

Nutrition Action Newsletter

This monthly newsletter, published by a non-profit group, hits the junk food industry hard, but also offers pre-packaged convenience foods that are nutritious and safe.

It tackles all the food products you are likely to find on in any grocery store, deals with diet myths and hype and offers many practical alternatives.

Reading is easy. In fact, it is perfect "bathroom" reading. And the facts are presented in an easy manner, perfect for kids who need to know why, for example, drinking two and a half gallons of pop a day might not be a good thing.

That said, remember to let your children listen to "Winning the Weight Loss game".

Unversity of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter

An all around newsletter that address nutrition, fitness and stress management. Lots of information, but neatly summarized offering only relevant point and facts. Again, very medically conservative, but filled with helpful tidbits that can help you stay on track in your lifestyle management.

Mayo Clinic Health Letter

Similar information to the Wellness Letter, but a different format. Perhaps a little more medically oriented in that they tend to spend more time on particular diseases.

I enjoy this letter, and appreciate the presentation and the carity of the descriptions and diagrams.
